The banged up Victoria Shamrocks simply won’t go away.

Scott Ranger scored the lone goal of the 10-minute overtime period Friday night and the Shamrocks came away with a 4-3 victory over the visiting Langley Thunder that evened the best-of-seven Western Lacrosse Association final at 2-2.

Game 5 is Sunday in Langley at 5 p.m.

The Shamrocks remain without Corey Small, the league’s third-leading scorer in the regular season, due to an undisclosed injury. Fellow sharpshooters Ranger and Jeff Shattler have both missed time in this postseason, too.

On Friday, Victoria received a 47-save effort from Matt Vinc and two goals and one assist from Cory Conway.

Vinc and the Shamrock defence held Langley snipers Garrett Billings, Mark Matthews and Dane Dobbie to no goals on a combined 28 shots. Dobbie and Matthews both had two assists, while Billings had one.

Brett Mydske had two goals for the Thunder.

Brodie MacDonald, who was sat in Game 3 in place of Nick Rose by Langley coach Rod Jensen, turned away 57 shots in the loss.

Langley, the two-time reigning WLA champions, are the top seeds, while Victoria is No. 2. The winner of the set hosts the Ontario champion in the Mann Cup national final series.

The Six Nations Chiefs are up 3-0 on the Brooklin Redmen after an 8-4 win on Friday. Colin Doyle and Johnny Powless each had a hat trick and an assist for the Chiefs.

Game 4 is Monday.
